Who is J. R. Rainbolt
Jerry "J.R." Rainbolt has accomplished a distinguished career in law enforcement and intelligence, having served two decades as a retired Special Agent with the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division (USACID). In this role, he was a Supervisory Special Agent, overseeing CID offices and managing teams of agents and support personnel. His responsibilities included leading multi-agency criminal task forces and conducting felony investigations encompassing a wide range of crimes such as murder, rape, aggravated assault, fraud, and human trafficking. He is also recognized as an expert interrogator and trainer in psychological interviewing techniques, and he managed a team of ten polygraph officers, scheduling their daily operations.
After his service with the CID, Rainbolt transitioned to the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), where he dedicated nearly 23 years as a security officer. At the NRO, he specialized in counterintelligence security and criminal-specific polygraphs, administering over 7,000 polygraph exams and training junior polygraph officers. His duties involved gathering intelligence and detecting activities related to espionage, terrorism, and other criminal acts. Throughout his extensive career, he has collaborated with numerous law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, U.S. Secret Service, and U.S. Coast Guard.
Currently, Mr. Rainbolt maintains an active role in the field, holding three distinct positions: he is an adjunct instructor for The Chicago School's Criminology and Forensic Psychology departments, an adjunct instructor for Red Rocks Community College's Criminal Justice department, and an investigator and trainer for the Cold Case Foundation. He holds a Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology from Argosy University, a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts with a psychology minor from The University of the State of New York, and an Associate of Science in Police Science & Administration from Austin-Peay State University.
